Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9-24-2026
The Rule of Law Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 41-3240334). This policy explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
What this website does not do
- We do not use advertising networks, retargeting, or tracking pixels.
- We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
- We do not run comments or user accounts.
- We do not build profiles of individual visitors or attempt to identify you personally.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages people read, how they arrived, and roughly where in the world they are. This helps us judge whether our work is reaching people.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (typically named _ga and similar) and sends information to Google, including the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and the site that referred you. Google processes this information in the United States under its own privacy policy.
We use this data only in aggregate. We have configured Google Analytics so that it is not used for advertising personalization.
Your choices. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, use Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or browse in a private window. None of this affects your ability to read the site, subscribe, donate, or contact us.
Information you choose to give us
Mailing list. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and first name; last name is optional. Our mailing list is operated by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which stores this information on our behalf in the United States. We use it only to send you updates about our work. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Donations. Donations are processed by Zeffy on Zeffy’s own website. We never receive, see, or store your card or bank account details. Zeffy provides us with the information you choose to give when donating — typically name, email address, and gift amount — so that we can acknowledge your gift, issue receipts, and meet our legal and accounting obligations as a nonprofit. You may choose to give anonymously.
Contact form and correspondence. If you write to us through the contact form, we receive your email address, your name if you provide it, and your message. These arrive as ordinary email and are not stored in this website’s database. If you email us directly, we keep your message and contact details so that we can respond and maintain our records.
Information collected automatically
Our web host, Kinsta, keeps standard server logs. These typically include IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time of the request. Logs are used to operate the site securely, diagnose faults, and detect abuse. They are not used to build profiles of visitors and are retained only for a limited period.
How we protect information
We limit access to personal information to those who need it to do their work. Our site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe. Use the link at the bottom of any email, or contact us.
- Analytics. Block cookies in your browser or use Google’s opt-out add-on, as above.
- Access, correction, and deletion. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation. We will honor those rights where they apply.
Third parties we rely on
We use a small number of service providers to operate this site. Each processes information under its own privacy policy: Kinsta (website hosting and server logs), Google Analytics (aggregate website usage statistics), Mailchimp / Intuit Inc. (mailing list), and Zeffy (donation processing).
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.
